Dark green, glossy, semi-evergreen leaves with silvery undersides. Showy, fragrant, cream, cup-shaped flowers bloom in summer then give way to cone-like fruits with bright red seeds that mature in fall. Excellent specimen tree for lawns or can be pruned as a shrub and used for borders. This cultivar has a more vigorous upright growth, better cold hardiness and slightly larger flowers than the parent species. Northeastern U.S. Native.
